he ultimate Welsh tour experience begins in the capital, Cardiff.
On day one we visit Wales' largest castle, Caerphilly, along
with the Roman town of Caerleon, steeped in stories of King Arthur
and containing Britain's only complete Roman amphitheatre.
We then head into the beautiful Wye Valley with opportunities to
see Britain's oldest stone-built castle at Chepstow, the
majestic ruins of Tintern Abbey, the ancient town of Monmouth and
Raglan Castle. On day two we will journey west over the Black Mountain
into Carmarthenshire, past the spectacular Carreg Cennen Castle
and Dylan Thomas' Laugharne, before moving on to the idyllic
coastal resorts of south Pembrokeshire. The following day we head
north through the beguiling Presceli Hills, whose famous Blue Stones
were quarried for the building of Stonehenge. You will get to see
a selection of Prehistoric and Celtic sites before continuing along
the west coast towards the imposing mountains of Snowdonia. Here
there will be an opportunity for you to see some of Britain's
most dramatic scenery, along with fascinating historical sites,
such as the castles of Edward I and Prehistoric sites on the island
of Anglesey, home of the Druids. For the adventurous there will
be an opportunity to climb the highest mountain in Wales or England.
After two nights in north Wales we head back through the untouched
beauty of mid Wales and into the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Visit Hay-on-Wye, the world-famous 'Town of Books,' and
enjoy a drive through the spectacular Gospel Pass. On the last
day we will head for Swansea. Explore Wales' second city,
then head out to Mumbles and the Gower Peninsula, the country's
best known surfing area, with its beautiful beaches, castles and
ancient stones.
For our final evening it's back to the bright lights of Cardiff, where there's nightlife to suit every
taste! There is also an option to stay an extra night in the Brecon Beacons National Park for those who wish
to enjoy some of the wide range of outdoor activities available - please ask for details.
